When someone asks me "How was Belize?", there's only one word that comes to mind; wild. Belize far exceeded any mental expectations that I had set. My boyfriend and I are all about adventure (and very little down time) on our vacations and we got enough done in a quick four days. No amount of words, pictures, or videos will be able to justify my time spent in Belize.
We stayed at The Coco Beach Resort in San Pedro. The hotel itself was incredible and the staff in the hotel were so helpful and patient. Coco Beach offers free paddle boarding and kayaking, which we took advantage of. Why not?
San Pedro streets. To get around, you can drive a golf cart or ride a bike. The streets are very easy to drive through!
The water in Belize is beyond PERFECT. So warm, so calm, and the greatest snorkeling experience. Belize is home to the second greatest barrier reef and it's definitely something to witness while you're here. We got to see a ton of different fish while snorkeling and also snorkeled with sharks! It's such a rush and the tour guides are extremely helpful. If swimming isn't your favorite, they also have glass bottom boats that will let you get (almost, not quite) the same experience.
We also found ourselves venturing into the island to Caye (pronounced 'key') Caulker. Caye Caulker mainly consists of a few bars and restaurants all located on one street. The people in San Pedro described Caye Caulker as "San Pedro ten years ago." It's a very chill spot with an awesome bar called the Lazy Lizard. This bar was my style - on the ocean where I could grab a drink then jump into the water and just hang out; also, the crowd was a great mix.
The food in Belize is delicious! Some of our favorite spots included Blue Water Grill, Wild Mangoes, Rainbow (in Caye Culker), Elvi's Kitchen and Estel's Dine by the Sea! Vacations are all about indulging - please, please PLEASE make sure you get a fry jack! It's simply deep fried bread but it's delicious with honey or jam.
No matter what time of day it is, it is ALWAYS really hot in Belize. We had a blast and definitely will come back when we're scuba certified to explore the great blue hole!
